Bush won this battle but the war is not over. Choosing the battles you can win and recognizing the ones that don't matter is what the game is all about. This was a battle that could be lost because there's a much bigger one on the horizon. Let's see if you're full of giggles come September.

The only thing Dubya owns is Gonzo, Rove, a failed war in Iraq, the blood of thousands of soldiers, and hundreds of billions in American taxpayers hard earned cash.

They backed down because they realized Bush lied when he said he wanted to work toward a compromise, and they wanted to fund the troops more than Bush wanted to. (Otherwise, he'd have let it drag on forever.)

You should be thanking them for making sure money gets where it needs to be. Left to Bush, it would never have happened.
