No not at all. I have taken my children on holiday lots of times from being small and have never heard of this nor been asked to take the birth certificate with me.

You could ring you travel agent to double check and set your mind at rest, but all you need to take for her is her passport.

I've flown domesticly with my daughter several times. The only time I needed to bring her birth certificate was when she was not "obviously" under 2 years old (age they can still fly with no ticket). Even then, you have the option of bringing her shot records (on pediatrician's stationary) or the birth certificate, as it is only the proof of birth date that they need.

If you are still nervous about it, call the airline that you are flying, they will explain exactly what you need and why.

Hope that helps!

It may depend on where your going! Is it hard to find the Birth Certificate? Just in the same country probably not. Overseas then maybe. Keep the baby awake as much as you can before the flight and then it should "Sleep like a Baby" until you get where your going.

It's not necessary as far as I know - we're leaving next month with an 11 month old, and we weren't told to bring her BC! Good luck and have fun!
