No its not harmful at all. My battery is always fully charged.

Erm, it's not the best thing to do with apple ipods...

In fact it clearly states in the user documentation that keeping it on charge isn't a good idea.

The documentation says that you should
-charge it fully then unplug
-use it until the battery is basically dead
-then fully charge

Keeping to this cycle will definetly maximize the battery life (as in the whole of its life - from packaging, to when its no longer holding power for more than 30 mins, ie in like 10 years)

hmm, in my experience (i've owned two iBook G3 and one iBook G4) keeping the computer plugged in is ok, but you'll slowly lose battery capacity. or i should say, the batter won't last as long when you do have to unplug it. i'm not sure how much of that is the age of the battery and how much is due to it being plugged in all the time.

you should us the charger when you can, but the battery needs to be regularly charged and discharged to retain it's full strength. This is true of any of these ion/lithium batteries. So if it is not being used in a portable way then take the charger off from time to time and let the battery run down.
