I just got a brand new Kenmore Washer from sears, Sears item #02627632000 Mfr. model #27632. Our townhome has the laundry room on the second floor. I called sears and they sent someone out within a few days to checkit out at no cost. The technician said that there was no problem and theat it would shake like that during spin because it was on the second floor. I wasn't happy with that answer since it was so obvious something was not right with the washer. I called sears back and they said i could return it and exchange it forthe same one or take a credit and apply it to a new one. I hope someone can help me out with this one. Should i get the same one? Perhaps the one i got was defective? Or should i get a different one? My budget is tight. Also, will any washer i get shake on the second floor. I can't put the laundry room anywhere else.

Make sure it's level. If it is, make sure you are not putting the heavier clothes on one side.

I looked up this one, it's a top-load washer, Did you install the washer or did sears? I ask because there are devices that secured the internal parts of the machine for shipment, these must be removed at installation, these are usually removed before the machine is plugged in, they call them a rip cord and it is usually secured to the plug wire and you have to make an effort to not pull this device, I can't imagine them still being in place. usually they are yellow and the power cord is attached to one end of the rip cord. The rear legs of the washer are "self leveling" The front legs can be raised and lowered by turning them like a screw. If you can't rock the machine when it is not running then check it for level and adjust the front legs as necessary. Beyond this it should be OK, a little shake during the spin cycle is to be expected.

Some older machines made by GE were so bad they put concrete 60# blocks inside to help stabilize them.

Trade it. If your upstairs floor is solid then so should the washer be.

One. You have to make sure the legs at the bottom are set to
where the washer is level, you do need a level for this
because the floor which it is sitting on may not be level.
Two. You have to balance the load of clothes in the easher so
one side isn't heavier than the other, after it reaches the rince
cycle, if it starts vibrating, open the lid and when the washer
stops spinning shift the load around to where it is more even
and the noise and vibration will stop. If the washer is not
"balanced", it doesn't matter which room you put it in.

When the technician stated it would shake on the second floor, he did not really mean all second floors. Go upstairs and jump up and down on the floor in front of the washer. Does the floor flex and cause the washer to rock a bit? If so, then changing the washer will not help. If the floor is rock solid steady, change the washer at Sears. You did not mention if you had lived in the townhome long, and if this was a replacement washer. Was it? If so, did the other one shake? If not, then you have nothing to compare it with. Anyway, check the flex in the floor.

If it's a wooden floor your stuck. The washer needs secure footing. You can exchange it and the new washer will do the same thing. Blame the builder, not Sears. If it was designed as a laundry area, insufficient suport was provided during construction.

It sounds like it is unbalanced. That could be due to a couple reasons:

1. You might not have balanced your load of laundry and didn't spread them around the washer evenly.

2. Your washer might not be level. If so, get a level and adjust the feet so that the top of the washer is level from side to side and from front to back.

3. The washer itself may unbalanced (a manufacturing flaw/ or defective washer). In this case, take their offer and trade it in for another one.

Face the facts, your spinning wet clothes with a certain mass to them. If they are not perfectly balanced when you go into the spin cycle, it is bound to cause some vibration. It is hard for us to judge wether the vibrations you are experiencing is "normal" or not, but you should realize that any washer you get will vibrate during the spin cycle. Being on the second floor makes the vibrations sound worse then they probably are, but not much you can do about that now.

It is off balance,---call the Kenmore dealer and tell them--they should send someone out to balance it--that means screwing those metal things underneath the washer--they know how it is to be done--call them again and tell them what that guy said--it does not seem right to me---sometimes you have to ask for their supervisor and tell them you paid a good lump sum of money for this washer and want to ensure it works properly--Second floor should have nothing to do with it!--If it's a defect--they should replace it! Stick to your guns and go above heads if you need to--someone will fix it eventually--Be patient--cause Kenmore's are good washers! Hang in there and good luck! Just keep hasseling them if you have to but you can exchange it if it's a defect!

Either the unit is not level on the floor or the tub is out of alignment. Since it doesn't sound like your sears guy was competent at all I would start with the legs on the bottom of the machine and make sure it is level. If that doesn't fix the problem I would return it.

I don't see why the washer would work any diff'rnt on the 2nd fl? Sounds like they are trying to give you the run around. It could be an agitator or it could just be unbalancing itself. Have a look to see if is level on the floor. Good Luck.

Sounds unlevel to me. Either that or you overloaded it with towels or jeans - as I have seen all my boys do. Maybe get a larger capacity washer or see if it shakes that much with a smaller load and check for level,
