Um, what country are we talking about here? Since there are people from all over the world on this board you have to be a lot more specific about your situation.

If you are in the USA you must a) be very healthy and physically in great condition; b) be a student in good standing at your college - your college must have a Naval ROTC program; and c) be of good character.

Try googling NROTC, or US Navy, or Annapolis and see what comes up.

If you are still in high school you should look into the US Naval Academy or the US Coast Guard Academy. They are competitive to get into, but not just competitive on academics. They really want well-rounded kids who have a talent for leadership.

There are several different paths to becoming a Naval Officer. You should contact a Navy Recruiting Office for specific information.

1. Join the navy. Do well in boot camp. Volunteer for everything. Hopefully you will get into Officer Candidate School OCS. Need good score on the entrance and other exams. STUDY!!!!
2. Go to College and enroll in ROTC/Military classes. (Not all schools have this though.) After 4 years you may get commissioned as an officer. Part of your college MAY get paid for.
3. You need to be in good health. NO DRUGS or gang crap. High school diploma is important. If you can't do High School (USA) then you really are in trouble.

Generally you do 3 years of college and then apply for enterance into Annapolis and do you're 4th year there.

Sometimes people get full degrees and just join. Nursing, for example. You get a BS in Nursing anywhere and apply for the Navy and you generally go in as a Nurse and hold the rank of Ensign in boot camp and them could get promoted swiftely to Lt. Jr. Grade and be assigned to a ship or hospital.

Any college degree gets you in as an O-1, however career military people generally do all or at least their last year at the Naval Academy.

You need to graduate High School with a high GPA, having a previous relative ( like my father who was highly decorated) who is/was an officer, will most certainly help to get into Annapolis. If you are interested in Medical and you aren't wanting to be a line officer, nursing Corps is an excellent way. Otherwise, graduating from a baccalaureate program is a requirement.
