HELP!!! The icon in my system tray shows that my cable internet is connected and active, but when i try to bring up IE or AIM it does not recognize a connection. I have unplugged the modem, tried different ports on the USB cable. I defaulted to the original internet settings, firewall up and down, and nothing...I can't afford a new computer, but why won't it recognize the connection? I even tried the internet connection wizard...I have done all that I can think of to do...Any suggestions?

Don't panic.
Are you connecting thru router or modem? Once you are connected to the Network go to command prompt and type ipconfig and see if you are getting an IP Address.

Call your ISP, your settings are messed up.
