I know it's legal in Oregon but should it be legal everywhere?

I agree with previous answers in that it should be decided by the person who is going to die, nobody else.

Think of how having the power of life/death could affect the medical industry? Someone making these decisions could easily lighten the cost of medical facilities by ridding the hospital beds of the terminally ill and/or infirm. How many times have you heard on the news of hospitals crying out for more beds? Patients sleeping in corridors because there are no rooms available.... If they had the power to decide on who lives and who dies, the consequences would be dire!

It's a frightening concept.

Yes. I'm not sure if I support euthanasia from a moral standpoint, but I think that a terminally ill person should have the legal right to decide for themselves, without being affected by someone else's moral views.

Well euthanasia..No.

Assisted Suicide..yes.

I make the difference because nothing in definition of euthanasia states that consent is received before ending the life.

If it is MY life then NO ONE has ANY right to tell/force me to live and suffer or to live at all..not my spouse or family and if they cannot then government sure as HELL has no business even attempting to tell me what to do.

With appropriate restrictions, I think it should be. We allow people to euthanise their dogs due to financial constraints, pain, terminal illness, etc. I think euthanasia of terminally ill people should also be allowed if the person wants it and the family agrees.

We humanly end the suffering of our beloved pets yet we will watch our family and friends die a slow & painful death without allowing them to humanly end their life.

While I don't think that a doctor should assist in suicide (physicians heal and I believe that allowing them to end a life is a conflict of interest), I do believe that human beings should have the right in the case of a death sentence (terminal brain cancer, etc...) to end their own life.

Not yet. There are too many people out there that would utilize it improperly. Our society is definitely full of sh*t, but to be able to put someone to sleep like a sick dog or cat is just plain crazy. It has NOTHING to do with religion either!

Yes. I think we should have the right to choose when and how we want to die. Laws banning assisted suicide come from religious beliefs; if these beliefs are taken out of our laws as they are being taken out of schools, then this law should also be banned...

Yes! So long as the person who wishes to end their life is of sound mind, and capable of making that decision, I have no qualms about it.

No.

There's a movement to force everyone to be organ donors whether they want to or not.
Will the doctors be letting us die faster so they can get our organs?
Doctors are supposed to be saving lives. That should be their main priority.

Depends on who gets to make the decision.
