there has been a nation wide campaign for thank you cards at Chev dealers, Cell phone donations, minutes for the troops to call home. If you are for or against the war in my opinion we all need to support our troops and say thanks to all who serve and have served.

ps: Ive done all listed, plus I will be placing flags on vets graves, and visiting vets at the VA hosptial this holiday.

ppss: burning flags , protesting at funerals, is not support

Good question. You deserve more than just a Star? But, for now. That's all I can give you. But I live near a Military Base. I often see some our Our Brave Soldiers, at a Restaurant. And I'm always shaking their hands in appreciation of their Service. Much of those things that you do? Gives us all a feeling of emotion. But shake the hand of a Military? It'll get you where it counts Partner. It'll make you see Pride, at it's finest. Good Morning! And thank you for speaking up for them!

I too have sent cards, care packages, and made donations. To troops I do not know. This summer my husband to be will be going over and I'll do the same for him and the men on his ship.

What I am most proud to do to say thank you though is I will be attending my first Patriot Guard Riders counter protest next week. We will stand there silently holding flags to cover up the wack jobs at that baptist church who have signs filled with hate-filled statements about the troops.

I also organized a group to make and send cards to recovering vets at VA hospitals.

Its the least I can do for these men and women who have done so much for all of us.

I'm a U.S. Navy Veteran (1986-1996 and was in Desert Storm). My personal fave has always been Emerson, Lake & Palmer's version of "Fanfare For The Common Man".

I have mailed off deodorant, shaving needs, snacks, magazines and disposable cameras.

Plus the main thing I have done to support the troops is fight the current government on their ignorance and abuse of the U.S. Constitution and American ideals. MY troops are not meant to be fighting to uphold a government and nation that starts stripping freedom from people and ignoring its own laws. The current government (BOTH Democrat and Republican) should resign in shame as they are trying to destroy a true, free America.

Also if people REALLY wanna support the troops how about these tax cuts that everyone likes so much...we take only a 1/2 tax cut and give the rest of the money to the troops since most of them make crap money and the government doesn't even pay them on time!

In the past seven days I have:
- Put a "thank you" note in a box at a local GM dealer
- Sent $2,000 worth of grocery store coupons to an Army base in Germany

I do much more besides that.

And Buzz is absolutely right. It's great to just shake their hands and say "thank you." I do that too, but we no longer live near a military base now that my husband's retired so I don't see as many.

Do you want to thank them ? Give them good jobs once they leave the US Military and ensure that veterans are appreciated. There are plenty of unemployed US Military veterans and when it comes to decent wages people all of a sudden forget their patriotism and think about their own money and how to share the least legally allowed.

You are forgetting the US Constitution. No-one likes flag burners but it should always stay a protected expression even tough I feel like sending them into life imprisonment.

Feeling patriotic then please visit the following and you will be shocked and awed

I am not against our troupes! I am against the war! I have a niece in this war! I hate the fact that Americans are Burning our Flag! Protesting at a funeral is down right disgusting! I know that there are some people who understand how we can be against the war but not against our troupes! I'll have to send a couple of thank you cards. I didn't think of that. However I will continue to pray daily for this war to end and for our troupes to return home! I am 100% against this war and I stand firm on that belief!

Here's one place I like (I live near Philadelphia):

I'm too old to serve (and when I signed up for the Air Force, out of college, I was rejected because I had lung tumors and a heart problem -- who knew!). I did not and never will support our Idiot King; I will never waver in my support and admiration of our troops.
