We would be surrendering to the enemies living in the heads of the republicans. Anything less then "victory" will be a defeat for President Bush and that would mean failure. They have painted themselves into a corner and at this point cannot do anything other then to keep repeating we need to win in Iraq. Defeating? I thought we were there to liberate, not defeat? Therapy would have been more effective than an invasion of Iraq.

We would be surrendering the Iraqi people to factions from Iran, Syria, Al Queda, and a number of other TERRORISTS groups all with designs on taking as much power as possible in the vacuum. Who we ARE defeating is the TERRORISTS in the region, many from outside of Iraq who are coming into the country to destabilize what just might become a free and democratic nation. There is no comparison of this conflict with any previous war. To try to make any correlation is just plain stupid. There are no nations we are fighting against but TERRORISTS from many different places with a cause. Your childish comparisons sadly are all to common for those to lazy or to indoctrinated by political propaganda to learn the truth of what this conflict is all about. The scope of what is gong on in the mid east is beyond anything your little mind can take in.

Well: Every war is different. It's hard to fight a war with your hands tied. It's hard to fight a war when you need to call into your CO to get permission to shoot someone who just blew up a convoy.
Americans contrary to popular liberal belief fight according to the rules of the Geneva Convention. Terrorists do not.
Funny you should mention Nazis this war is very similar to WWII in that we are again fighting a mindset. Again we fight against a collective group of radicals who hate what we are, how we live, our freedoms, our society, our free market. Just like then they hate various groups of people The Jews, Christians, and the west just to name a few.
It's not that easy when lawmakers in the US are foaming at the mouth trying to nail your actions on the battlefield back home. It also doesn't help when you don't get proper funding, kinda makes it hard to do your job. Another thing that makes it hard: when there is a tug of war at home, pull out no stay there no pull out. Kinda makes you a little confused am I supposed to do my job or not?
Withdrawl means we allow a mindset to take over a region. Withdrawl means democracy and women's rights in Middle Eastern countries will never exsist. And yes, withdrawl means surrendering to a global jihad.
Withdrawl means frequent attacks on our homeland. Withdrawl means American citizens waking up one day with our national language being Arabic and facing Mecca 5 times a day.

Think about it.
If we were fighting this war on our soil and the enemy suddenly packed up and left, would that not be construed as the enemy admitting defeat?
Why do you exempt the correct answer as far as who?
Is it not "the terrorist" organizations we are trying to dismantle wherever they may be (Iraq)?
Why is it taking so long?
We are not fighting against any one particular country as we have in every other major war in history.
We are fighting a group of people bent on America's destruction and their membership incorporates people of many different countries.
Fighting a country is easier the fighting nomad-like people who have no particular place to defend and protect.
We can't destroy their capital, they don't have one.
We can't destroy their military bases, they don't have anything permanent.
It is easy to see why this is much harder than fighting a static foe.

I just dont understand why we dont reset are army. We lock up the country and keep men from coming into it. Photo ID everybody at check points. Moment you are not at the location for your photo id is the time you are either shoot and or cuffed and taken away. Simple plan,
People in the area will soon stop fighting each other because the USA is not standing over there shoulder any more. We are just keeping problems from coming into that country. We then set up task units that are fast acting to support the Iraq army when they find a build of of the enemy. That way we can come in hard and fast and use everything we have to bring that area under control. No more of this sitting on the corner waiting for a bomb to blow up next to one of are troops.
It would be nice if we had a change of plan. Old plan is not working and we have to few troops on the ground. We could control the border with the numbers we have. Granted we will not be able to get everybody, but to slow down the groups of men that are bringing supplies over would greatly help are troops on the ground.
I could go on and on about tactic, but what good does that do when the man in charge will hear none of it. High time he looks for options because sticking to your guys has failed and it failed for how many years now.
On top of all this, we are doing nothing in Afgan and only allowing more problems to build up. Time we start setting up a plan to win, instead of just looking at the stop sign.
Hell, you could take about 1000 troops and give them supplies and set them on the major roads. Give them a snipper rifle and enough supplies for about week. Place them about every 2 miles or so and have them just watch as to what is going on. Every now and then fly the unmaned plane with a bag of food on it over the target area for the snipper on the ground. If he sees anything out of the norm, radio it in.
Come on G-Bush, has to be a better way of fighting a enemy you can not see. Maybe we need a Lady in charge, at least she will seek options. Hell, im a guy and am tired of seeing guys that can not get out the dam car and ask for directions. How hard is that,, shesh, save a few hours in the process.
Quote my spelling and I will ask you a question you can not answer, im not perfect and I know your not. Tired of seeing them spelling rep in the post.

I know you don't want to hear terrorists as the answer, but I'm sorry to say, it is the answer. If we pull out the terrorists will celebrate victory, they will terrorize US supporters left in Iraq, and they will plan future attacks on the US. The reason it is taking longer is because in WWII, we knew who we were fighting.

You ask a question and then tell us what we cannot use for answers? Sheesh!
Call is surrender, cut and run, whatever but we don't leave because the job" isn't" finished. This is all you should care about.
RE; WW11, the topography and the insurgents were NOT part of that that and this fact changes our abilities to fight them if we can't find them.

you must be about 16 years old, or at least that´s your menatlity.....
if we leave, we are surrrendering to: INSURGENTS, (nice how i didn´t use terrorists)
that´s also who we´re trying to defeat right now as well. So if we leave, the picture that will be painted is that the insurgents not only beat the most powerful nation on the planet, but now they have even more of "gods" blessing and if they can beat america, they can beat anyone.... nothing can stand in thier way.....
their goals are clear, kill everyone non-shiat/sunni muslim.... they want thier religion to rule everywhere, and will kill anyone standing in thier way (hense all the sectarian killings) they´re willing to kill thier own people to get power.... you think we should leave and let them do this?
we leave iraq, we lose to these radical muslims, these insurgents, and these terrorists.... they see it as victory, victory against the most powerful nation in the world.... if we can´t stop them, no one can.... and nation by nation will fall to the suicide bomb tactics of these bastards.......

Islamic extremists, Al-Qaeda and all the other faces they take. the only reason we are moving slowly is because we are not fighting a conventional war.We face no uniformed army, they have no "base" which to capture. What we are facing is the way of warfare that is designed specifically against us. It is guerrilla warfare taken to its extreme. By not wearing uniforms they can use our media against us, to the media all the dead are civilians. They are not they are combatants, armed and deadly. Our enemy massacres innocent civilians to instill fear in them so they will not fight. They inspire guilt in you so you will not.

Withdrawal means getting out from in the middle of a civil war. Once the US troops are out, we will see the Iraq's neighbours scrambling to restore order. Nobody wants a religious war in the region, in spite of what 'certain people' try to make us believe.
