Another term you may dislike!

How about 'life companion', or does that apply to dogs now?
It's hard to keep track. I don't care what they call it - as long as you know, you KNOW, and it doesn't make any difference what others call it.

I describe my "significant other" as my partner. We been together nearly 6yrs & bought a flat together six months ago. He's my best mate, so much more than a "boyfriend," & we're not married or engaged, so it seems the best way to describe our realtionship to each other.

I really dislike "my other half" & don't even get me started on "my better half" - I'm a whole person, was before I met him & still am now. He is 'the puzzle piece beneath the sofa that makes the sky complete,' - he fills that place in my heart, not me as a person[ality].

I hate that term, we aren't cowboys for heaven's sake. I call him my fiance or my b/f, never partner, and never significant other. I hate derogatory terms such as ball and chain.

Partner is probably my favorite. Team-mate would be my ultimate but it seems to male, but in truth it is the closest thing to what they are. A team-mate.

I like girlfriend, partner, other half and in the right circumstances lover and wifey! i dont like 'my bird', 'my *****', 'my woman' (i dont mind 'my girl' though) 'my ho', etc! anything that states possession is not really that nice. Depends on the individual though!
