Really? Well actually.. y'know, personally I couldn't give a flying s***?!?!
Is this true? Do most people care these days about celebrities more than, y'know, important things in life?!
I certainly don't... and honestly think it wouldn't be physically possible for me to care one iota less. Are you with me? Or not?

Unfortunately most of us live pretty ordinary and mundane lives, so celeb watching has become a wide spread hobby for many Brits. There are even magazines which specialise in the business of celebrity.
Celebrity in the modern sense probably dates back to the Andy Warhol idea that "everyone will have 15 minutes of fame".
Soon thereafter we got "Fame Academy" etc.
Celebrity status is not all that new. If you think about it, wasn't Beau Brummel just a celebrity? I mean, he rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous and the cultured, but what did he as a person add to the life of Britain? Nothing much. Okay, so he was a chum of Prinny and all that and a Regency Fop to boot.
So, if you want to see what this foppish celeb looked like, go to Jermyn Street in St. James in London and you'll see his statue there; boots and all.

It drives me crazy!! Who cares what so-and-so is up to on the beach, who cares if they've put on weight. I would love to get a magazine that isn't about a load of so-called celebrities that I've never heard of, or heard of for that matter. What makes a celebrity anyway? Half the 'celebrities' I see mentioned I have never seen or heard of before in my life. Have they ever done anything for anybody other than themselves, I don't think so!!
Wow!! That was great, sorry for the rant but it drives me MAD!

I have to say from the outside looking in. ye r a nation of celebrity lovers. ye make people who aren't even celebrities famous. Chantal big brother. jade goody etc. I don't blame u personally but its definitely the way ur media is driven. They can big up some one like posh and becks and make them huge all over the world? I know not every one in England feel like this but its the impression the rest of the world get from ye. I live in Ireland. Not far away. But we seem to do the opposite to u any one who trys to get a bit of fame r shot down straight away. and not taken seriously. to honest i quiet like it. we r a country of begrudgers ha

As a woman, I am completely with you - I couldn't care less about these self-obsessed, narcassistic, non-entities. I don't watch soaps, don't read or buy 'celebrity gossip' magazines and have not desire to understand their strange little abrorbed lives. Call me out of touch if you like, but I'd rather watch Newsnight - at least it gives me an appreciation of the wider world.

Most are idiots who want their 15 minutes of fame, and don;t understand that they can put yu up there, but can take you down just as quick and then say -poor little me \ive lost it all because I thought this would go on for ever and I would be famous and rich and people would love me

I think its true. Iam not addicted to fame & celebritys. But celeb magazines make things worse by saying how much celeb's spend on things. Esp the Boring Beckhams. I couldnt care less what they spend. Iam not bothered
