Hi. Ive added 2GB (2x1GB) to my existing 512mb on my Gigabyte GA81PE1000PRO mobo, but my stytem (on startup or in Vista) doesnt recognise it.. still says 512mb. Ive swapped around/taken the old out etc etc.. but the system wont even boot without the old 512mb inside (it works in any slot). Can anyone tell me whats wrong?? When I run the Everest scanner, it lists the 512 as RAM, but lists the new 2gig in 'SPD' - what is this?. Its all DDR PC3200 so I cant understand why the new stuff wouldn't work... & Vista is crawling without it!! Ive checked the mobo manual: all 4 slots can take upto 1gig-fine - but it says 'Due to chipset (Intel 875P/865G/865PE) architecture limitation, DDR 400 memory module is only supported when using FSB 800 Pentium 4 processor. A FSB 533 Pentium 4 processor will
support DDR333 and DDR266 memory module. A FSB 400 Pentium 4 will only support DDR 266 memory module' - what does this mean.. can anyone help - and how can I find out what 'FSB' my P4 prescott is?

Try putting the 2x1Gb sticks on the RED slots. If it does not work there, try them on the BLUE slots. It should run in dual channel mode.

Yeah, you are right, your motherboard can take up to 4Gb.

maybe your motherboard doesn't support it (you should read book for your motherboard to see statistic and possibility for upgrades) maybe you bought broken/damaged rams or you have made some mistakes with installation (it is best to visit service to they see what is the problem - you gave informations but not enough)

well if it is all the same type of RAM there shouldnt be a problem unless you damaged the RAM in the process of putting it in by not protecting yourself against static electricity which is lethal to RAM chips...if you have any friends who can use the same type of RAM in their computers test it in theirs and see if it works to determine if it is a problem with your motherboard or the RAM
