You can get your divorce cheaper if you go to the court yourself and fill out the forms, rather than going through a solicitor as they add on a huge amount on money for their fee, it is £300 if you do this yourself at the court. Also if you are on tax credits you can avoid paying all together. It should be easy to get divorced after 6 years as it doesnt matter if you both agree to it or not. Good luck, I do advise you go direct to your local county court though as they are very helpful.

Filing the work yourself...If you go to your local court (District Court) ask the clerk to give you an "absolute divorce packet (you need this one since you have been separate for more than 18 months) and a wavier (so you don't have to pay court cost or have the amount reduce), go to the Pro-Se office and have the people assist you in filling out the paper work...
Good Luck

To get divorce, go to the local county court and get the paperwork, fill it in and send it back and within 18 weeks you can be divorced as long as the other party does not challenge it.

after 6 years there should not be a problem getting divorced, you just need to sign a few letters, it will be costly but the longer you leave it the cheaper it will be,

If you can sit down and reach a property and financial agreement (notarized), that would vastly help.
