pragmatic-Concerned with practical matters.Of or concerning the theory of pragmatism.Guided by practical experience and observation rather than theory.it's an adjective.

These two words are very close in meaning. But I think of practical as meaning fitting the general structure that the thing or act is to fit into; whereas pragmatic is more about compromise in order to get the result you need.

Practical relates to the ability to adopt means to an end or to turn what is at hand to account: to adopt practical measures for settling problems.

Pragmatic relates to an approach that is guided by practical experience and observation rather than theory.

They are generally counted as synonyms of each other.

They are both Greek words.The word practical comes from the word PRAXIS(ΠΡΑΞΙΣ) which means ACTION
The word PRAGMATIC comes from the word PRAGMA(ΠΡΑΓΜΑ) which means THING,having the meaning of something which can be achieved
