Kind of depends on what you mean by colonize I will take it to mean to migrate to and settle in; occupy as a colony. In that case there were a number of peoples who colonized England.

The Celts - From modern day Germany area and western Europe were probably the first that we know of who settled the land and subjugated the native people to their rule.

The Romans - Settled much of lower England subjugating the Celts although they did not conguer Ireland, or Scotland.

The Anglo - Saxons - Or rather the Germanic tribes from Northern Germany and Denmark filled the void or pushed the Romans out of England depending on the historian your reading creating a seven kingdom heptarchy.

Vikings - From Scandanavia threatened the continent for awhile with raids and may have had some power and colonies in Northern and Eastern England before the Anglos pushed them out around 1066.

and last but not least the Normans from Northern France led by William the congueror defeated Anglo king Harold Godwinson, who had just battled another anglo who claimed the throne of england, and made the Island a possession of France until they grew even more powerful then the French kings they had oaths of vassalage or loyalty to and claimed the throne leading to numerous French-British conflicts and British Independence.

That is pretty much the short and dirty summary. Hope it helps.

Initially, the Celts. The Celtic tribes originated on the Russian step, migrating West about 10 - 12 thousand years ago, destroying the original cultures.

After that, the Romans. They stayed for about 400 yrs. However, when they pulled out, they left Britian with a civilian population and very little ability to defend themselves.

This left the gates open for the Saxon tribes to move in (Holland/Germany). The Danes (Vikings) also had settlements here. Things settled down for a bit until 1066 when the Normans invaded and took all of the plumb jobs for themselves.

In addition to the main incursions, there have also been settlers and migrants from all over the world.

Nobody colonized England. Once upon a time, the sun never set on the British Empire.

Homo erectus remains have been found in England, so I guess the answer is, the English 'colonized' England. However, the Romans later invaded England which spurred its development.
