Why is it that religious people think it is ok to tell people their veiws on religion And what they think we should believe in but if a non religious person trys to explain why they arnt religious and dont believe in god to a religious person its apparently offensive!!!
We have you in our faces knocking on our doors trying to convert us but we are mean and disrespectfull if we tell you our opinion, I think its rude and disrespectfull for these people to keep trying to convert people and knocking on our doors continuosly after we tell them we dont not to!!!

Feel sorry for them; they feel they have to go out and do that. Some even have to have "converts" in order to get to heaven.
How's that for sad and pathetic?
You're right - it's rude to force ones beliefs and values on another. I look at it as fundementalist extremism and when they get in my face...it becomes a terrorist activity.
Bring THAT to your lawyer when you petition your restraining order. If you don't want to go that route - go bother the leader of the church on YOUR free day - tell him you won't stop until his church goers leave you alone.
:)
Have an awesome day

I'm right there with you!
I am an atheist, but I respect the fact that not everyone else is. I like the idea that people are free to believe what they want to. I don't force my views on religion on anyone. I have never tried to 'convert' anyone to my way of thinking, and it really winds me up when someone tries to do it to me. I'm not a soul that needs saving, I don't need divine intervention and I'm sure as sh!t not a 'lost sheep'!
Can I go back to being happy now :o)

Hi may I just say how damn wrong John M's answer is! Noone holds you at gun point and asks you to contribute to the collection plate! That is a terribly unfair accusation! People donate because they see nothing wrong in giving back to God what God himself has blessed us with! Besides, not a penny of this money goes to the church, it goes to helping poor and homeless and other needy people, something a self-centered person like you probably wouldn't understand!
Next, Tricky or whatever your name is, if you don't belive in God, FINE, if people try to convert you and it bugs you, FINE, but can you stop whining about it to the rest of us here at Y!a.
There is no reason to create a common platform here to thrash all those souls who go from door to door using their own time and effort and energy and money to save your GODDAMN crappy a*sses!!

Simple! Unleash the dogs to scare away the faithful.
And a few warning shots from your gun would be even more effective, but I doubt either remedy is going to get me any thumbs ups.
Hmm. Grin and bear it. And when you can't, shout LALALALALA IM NOT LISTENING as loudly as possible while covering your ears. OR simply repeat to them what they are saying, like a mirror. But online, this ain't gonna work. Get yourself a new id to avoid the god-loving-psycho-freakish-estate-agents who want to sell you prime property in Heaven.

I'm religious... but I don't do that. I've got lots of friends who are not religious but I don't try to convert them. I respect what they believe in.
Those religious people who knocked on your door and offended you are just a few of the thousand religious people out there.
The next time they knock on your door and offend you again... tell them that they're giving religious people a bad name.

I agree. I too do not believe in any religion and this seems to happen a lot. If you know they're at the door from looking at the peep hole or window(or whatever), just don't answer it. Always works for me.

No - personally - I couldn't care less if you believe or not.
I admire your absolute knowledge that you are the greatest being and that you have absolute dictate over your life and all that will befall you.
Good luck!

It is rude and disrespectful to try to convert people to your religion. In the US, everybody has the right to chose their own religion and should not be bothered for the religion, or lack of, that they chose.
Next time somebody tries to convert you, you should just tell them that every religion was built from the ignorance of their followers. I would just rather not be part of not knowing.

Well, if they are Christians, and that is the predominant religion in the U.S., they follow Jesus and he is quoted as saying in all of the gospels that his followers must go out and preach the good news of his coming.
I know it's annoying but they are doing what they believe is their duty. they do it not only out of love for you but also love for God. They feel they not only have the right but also the obligation.
I would love for you to tell me your opinion. I wouldn't think it was mean and disrespectful at all.

A man was stuck up on his roof top during a flood. The water kept getting higher and higher...so he prayed for God to save him from drowning....pretty soon, along comes a grizzly looking old man in a row boat...and tells the roof top guy to get in...the roof top guy said no thank you
The water got higher now and the roof top guy prayed, again, to God...save me from drowning...pretty soon another somewhat unsavory stranger came to him in a canoe...get in said the unsavory man...the roof top guy made a face and said no thanks
Now his house was almost ready to crumble away when the roof top guy pleaded with God to save him from drowning one last time...when all of a sudden, here comes a helicopter with a rope...but the helicopter guy reminded him of someone he didn't like so he said no thanks...
Then the house washed away and the guy drowned..when he got to the after life the rooftop guy asked God...Why didn't you answer my prayer and save me from drowning ?
God said..."Well, I sent you a row boat, a canoe and a helicopter...but you choose to die instead because you could not bring yourself to an open heart and mind and remove fear from your soul...
There will come a day when the row boats, canoes and helicopters will all be lost forever, if your heart and soul and mind remain closed for all eternity....
