Is there a better adapter / antenna that will give me a stronger signal and faster speed without moving closer to the access point? is the pci card adapter better then the usb adapter? would a antenna hooked up to a pci card adapter do better then my Belkin? please, I need help with buying the right stuff.

My D-Link G122 USB wifi has an extension cable. I can move the USB antenna w/ in a 1 meter radius from the PC. My DI-624 router is at the ground floor and set at medium transmission power and encrypted. My PC w/ USB wifi is at the 2nd floor. I get very good signal and 54mbps wifi speed. Connection has been 100% reliable for over a year now.

internal antenna will always fail in comparison to external, try to aim it in different directions and hope for the best

try changing the channel of your wireless router.. it will definitely help ..... try channel 1, 6, 9 and 11.....
