I want to post some of my poetry on my web site[when i get around to building one] Its not of any great value in literary or monetary terms but to me its very valuable. The thought of someone "stealing" my ideas and passing them off as there own would rankle with me.Im probably deluding myself but for peace of minds sake id be happier knowing i had some kind of right to them.
If anybody knows anything about this subject then please let me know.Id appreciate it

If it's anything decent, it will be mass-reproduced in China. There's nothing you can do about it.

Anything you write, you own copyright on. What you're asking is if you can REGISTER copyright. Registering gives you an upper hand when you have to sue somebody for stealing your stuff, because it "proves" to the court that you are the copyright holder. The problem is this: how are you going to go about enforcing this? Are you going to track down and sue anybody who uses your stuff? Do you know how hard it is to do that when you're talking about material that's floating out there on the Internet? Crazy hard. So yeah, you can register for copyright on your poetry, but good luck enforcing it.

You automatically hold the copyright on any works you create. You cannot 'register' copyright as that is nowhere to register it per se.
