I'm Asian (Hmong) and my name is Cheng Sue Vang. My wife's name is Nancy Ann Thao. The baby boy is due July 4th or couple days before and we can't decide on a name yet. Please help if you have any suggestions.

Or we have two names in mind (Deion or Zito)?

My friends call me Deion already for my nickname!!!

I like Deion, if it is your nickname it also has special meaning for you. Good luck and congratulations.

If your nickname is Deion, why do you want your son to have your nickname? Zito is a family name (Barry Zito is a pitcher for the Oakland A's).

I thought the suggestion for Kai was pretty good. I used to have a roommate named Kai. I also like Benjamin (Benny).

PS-Xenon is the name of pinball game from the 1980s.

Kaeth (spelled with ae so its not another Keath or Keith, and pronounced with an emphasis on the a). I thinks its a nice transitional name (neither western nor eastern) for any child and its a name that fits well into diverse cultures. Plus it has no prior meaning, etymology, or associated celebrity (that i'm aware of, please correct me if im wrong). This name goes well as either a first or middle name. Personally i like the ring to Kaeth Zito, but each to his own.

And take it from experience (I'm a Jr.): while it may be sentimetntal and good intentioned, naming your child with the name that your friends call you gets annoying fast for the kid and then the kid gets stuck with a degrading nic-name or an abbriviation of the name (like lil' D in your case, i was unfortunated to get stuck with C.J.)

Like many other people said it all comes down to where you live with your family, do you want a name that will stand out against or blend in with a traditional Asian background but could cause problems with spelling or pronunciation in the west or a western name that will be easily said and spelt.

I have two sons, Nathan David and Gregor Charles, they have there own first names but there grandfathers as middle names to keep tradition and continuity within the family.

My wife and i wrote a list of 20 names each on two pieces of paper, then compared each paper and selected the names we had each chosen, then chose 5 of those names on 2 pieces of paper and then of those we had each selected we chose our sons names.

Deion is nice though if you want a more American version, the spelling is usually Deon :) Zito is very unique. Maybe Zenon? or Tuan :) Good luck and Congrats!

If you plan on living in the west consider a good Western name such as John or Mark.

Otherwise you may want to follow the Asian tradition of consulting an astrologer for naming.

It depends on what country you live in.
if in the States I don't like either name. No one would remember it or know how to spell it.

What about
Girl
China Lin
Jena Lee
Jazzmine Bre
Hana Leah
Anna Nicole

Boys

Ken Dean
Anthoney Cheng

the first name that springs to mind is my little boy's name and that is Cian (or Kian). it is Irish and means ancient. and since i am norwegian, I have to mention a scandinavina name that means divine reward: Axel. or what about Deshi, which means virtuous man? I could go an for ages, cause i absolutely love names, but I'll end it with Finn, meaning fair, and, very simple but nice, Kim, which means precious metal or golden ore.
Wish you good luck with choosing a perfect name for your little baby boy :-)
