Because right now Texas is more American than most of the rest of America. I'm not a native Texan, but I got here as quick as I could.

Texas is not more conservative. They like to pretend like they are but they ignore their own history. Before George W. Bush, the governor of Texas was Anne Richards a liberal Democrat. As governor, Richards supported prison reform, outlawing cop killer bullets, reducing sales of semi-automatic weapons, and school financing reform.
Texas was also the home to liberal Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson. As President, Johnson was committed to a number of liberal policies including Medicaid, Medicare, the War on Poverty, the NEA, the NEH, the ESEA, the Civil Rights Act, and the Voting Rights Act.
Other famous Texas liberals include Bill Moyers, Henry Cisneros, Kris Kristofferson, Gene Roddenberry, Tommy Lee Jones, Mike Judge, Don Yarborough, Barbara Jordan, and Woody Harrelson.
