should i use a theme for my kids?
some people do name themes(o.o.p.s.y.), some do initial themes(c.a.t.).
what do you think?

Themes... Our sons were to have their fathers and grandfathers inatials.
Grandfather - WCC for William Clinton Castle
Son # 1 -CWC for Cordell William Castle

Father - ALC for Alan Lewis Castle
Son # 2 - LAC for Leighton Alan Castle.

I inverted the first two initals on each of the boys so that there is no confusing the group of men. Both past and present and to avoid passing up the chance of unique names.

I think it is fun and can lead to some interesting conversations.

I think rather than thinking of your kid's name's as a 'theme', I'd make sure that the names relate to each other in some way.

My name is Erin, and my sister's name is Chelsea. Both have ties to Great Britain...though neither are used as the names of people there. I think it's fun to have a connection without it being obvious, like beginning all the kids with the same letter of the alphabet.

My brother and his wife are in the process is coming up with a name for their second daughter. The first is named Parker, and the second will also be a unisex last name, so as to avoid conflict later in life. They don't want "Why did I get the girl name, and she get the boy name?" coming up later!

Best of luck!

Well you could give them all the same initials, but think how tongue tied you might get calling after Jess, Jared, John, Jackie, and Joseph? (those are the names of my best friend and siblings)

You could give them all nature-y names. Mae. Summer. Rayne. I knew a girl named Sunshine. That theme might only work if you have girls.

Matching initials could either be fun or annoying.

Maybe what you should do is think of a beautiful and unique name for each of your kids without restricting yourself by a theme.

I wouldn't. I mean, you'd pretty much be the only one who noticed unless you went with something obvious, like naming them all with the name first initial.

My great great grandmother named all her girl children with tradionally boy names, and all her boys with tradionally girl names. I don't know why but it was on purpose. My grandmother named her girls with all the same first initial, and her only son after my grandad.

Imagine having monograms done for your kids and they spell something... I think that's kinda weird looking. My cousin's initial's are E.G.O, and all her monograms spell ego. Now its kind of a nickname for her.

I'm not going to do a theme. I'm going to name my kids after people in my family I love, and other pretty names I come across. I change my mind on names all the time... so I probably won't be able to pick until I'm holding him or her.

I think if the theme has a real meaning behind it for you or your family.. like one user on here wanted her kids initials to be S.A.M. like their fathers.. then go for it.. just be careful as it can go either way

I used the letter K for my kids.
A friend of mine gave her kids first names that were family last names, such as Hamilton. Its kinda cool.

I say go for it if it means something. Just make sure it won't be something bad. Haha, like F.A.T. My son is due in about 3 weeks and his initials are going to be C.A.R. It wasn't intentional, but since it's nothing bad, we didn't think it was necessary to change our minds about his name. :)

It makes no difference to me. Just be careful not to accidentally give them one you don't like. I gave my girl V.A.P
and my son R.A.P. I didn't even mean to.
