3 months ago i was in a car accident. I was driving about 50miles per hour and the other guy run past a stop sign and hit me in the driver's side. Because of the impact i went straight into wall. By the way it was a taxi driver and he could have been driving at about 30 miles per hour. I was wearing my seatbelt at the time of the accident, but everytime i rest, like a nap, or after a night sleep and i wake up, the moment i stand up i can't let my right shoulder drop naturally, i have to let it hang in my normal position after a couple of minutes to get used to the pain...then the pain dissappears. But if i stand up straight it hurts when i do that....then again...after a while i get used to the pain...anyone have any idea what this could be? the pain is pretty much from the collarbone to the shoulder.

Dearest, You should see a good orthopedic dr. I dont know if u had X ray after the accident, but it might be undisplaced fracture (the worst case scenario). Or most likely a tendon caught up in between the bones that make up the shoulder joint. So you might wana have a "soft" massage to assist the healing, or just wait. But, if a nerve is getting caught between the joints, you shoud be careful not to get permanent paralyzes... so again, need to see a specialist. In case there's no nerve involvement, you should start doing Shoulder strengthening exercises. Get better soon!!!

I have a similar problem, although not so severe. It also came from a car wreck, except I was the guy that pulled out...

Anyway, my pain hurts from the neck to the shoulder, down the arm, and sometimes the pain shoots to my wrist. It seems to be centered around my shoulder, shooting off in random directions from there.

I have always assumed that it results from ligament, tendon, or joint damage from being sent so suddenly into a spinning motion (my car kinda spun around after being hit). Mine seldom hurts severe enough to make me notice it.

When it does bother me I take 1500-1800MG of Tylenol. I am quite a big guy, so if you are a small person try 500MG and work up from there. You are not supposed to use more than 2000MG per 24hours. Aleve works quite well too. Sometimes I take two pills.

If you have insurance see your doctor. They might be able to offer a better solution than over the counter drugs. Good luck.

EDIT: my suggestion is to NOT put too much trust in non-medical treatments such as "natural" or "instant" pain relief remedies or Chiropractors. See a bonafide MD or DO if you can afford to. This will be your best option for treatment.

If you have not been to a Chiropractor I would make an appointment. That way you can make sure your bones are in allignment and that it is not a pinched nerve. Which is possible. After that I would make an appointment with a Licensed Massage Therapist to help with the muscles. I am a LMT personally and have had a few clients that had similar problems after an accident. First see a Chiro then a LMT. It should help you out and will make you feel better in the long run. Take it easy.

they are not going to drain the fluid in your shoulder. That fluid will be reabsorbed by the body over time. they will not break your shoulder they will examine it.
