I like David Byrne. He was the singer for the Talking Heads and has been doing solo music for the past 15-20 years or so. His music is funky, and often described as making you want to dance & cry at the same time.

I love Christopher Ender Carrabba, aka Dashboard Confessional. He is so talented! I've listened to him over the years, and his voice has just developed so amazingly!
He is an Indie/Acoustic Rock singer, and his songs are beautiful in every way, from his words to his voice to his guitar playing.
I've been to an older show of his and I went to one very recently, and the difference was so great, I mean before, he was very good, but this last time I saw him, he was even better, like he could hold out his notes longer, he could sing higher notes, his guitar-playing got better, he is just awesome.
You should listen to his songs, "Hand Down", "The Brilliant Dance", "Screaming Infidelities", "Dusk and Summer", and "Stolen".

I Liked Mariah Carey's older music, she was one of the top selling recording artists in history. I liked Hero, which was one of the best songs. It was just some of the accomplishments that she had made throughout the years of the music industry.

I'd have to say my fav "singer" would have to be Nora Jones.
Just because her voice and style fits most of my moods and even when I'm pumped up working out if I hear her it always seems to center me. Good Question!
