Hey Sexy Sam,
You're supposed to STAR a question if you find it interesting.
So if you want to go back later and look at all the answers, it'll be easier. They'll be under your starred questions on your profile!
Just because you asked this question, then i'm gonna give you a STAR! HaHaHa.

Yahoo is about give and take and being rewarded. IF there were no points, no reason to do one-upsmanship then why do it at all? I think most would of left a long time ago. and to answer your question more specifically , the star is a reward for having a good question. Or at least deemed good.

In fact I wanted to give a star for your question but wondered a question is normally asked out of ignorance and if it is put to pull a leg we have to give a leg symbol, it it is teaser we have to give an ear symbol, it is for sympathy we can give a tear symbol and if it just for idling away time we can give a clock symbol.
I wish stars should be given for the intensity of ignorance(dumbness) maybe. I never got them so far.

It is neither to appreciate their knowledge nor to satisfy them.

If the question is thought provoking and ,and interesting to many (in our view) and its answer will be useful to many ,and we also read the answers again, then we star the question.
The starred questions normally will be addressing to the human nature, our behaviour, the most common issues many face .Normally many will read the answers to starred questions.

I star, because I am interested by the question or want to check back on the answers to it later. Never just because someone asks for stars

It's a cool thing to watch the little star light up bright yellow and twist around

All of the above. I don't see the big deal about the stars so I will give one to whoever ask as long as their question isn't offensive or obscene.

I only add a star to a question if I want to find it quickly to see how other people have answered.
