Some American's like smoking marijuana, but NOT a majority. Still, many American's are communicating with their legislators about allowing the industrial growing of hemp, which is not the same plant as the drug marijuana plant. It will probably happen in the near future because many farmers are fighting for passage of a law that will allow them to grow and sell the products, thus improving the economy.

Don't you know?
Hemp was used for thousands of years to make virtually everything. It is a really versatile plant. The seeds have oils that are good for your body and great for cooking with (no THC), the fiber of the plant can be used to make belts, parachutes, clothing, paper, backpacks, bags, etc.

Dupont Chemical used lobbyists to have the U.S. congress make industrial hemp illegal in WW2. Since then, marijuana, cannibas, and all hemp have fallen out of use.
Why pay Dupont to make artificially what people can grow naturally? BUSINESS. American companies are GREEDY!
If industrial hemp oil could be used to make ethanol, MAYBE the lobbyists would promote it. Otherwise, no way.
Good Question. Keep on truckin.

Because the petroleum industry (plastics) would lose money and they have money to lobby to kill the bills before they get signed. And most peps are ignorant to the fact industrial hemp and hemp you smoke are two very different things. Fear and Greed are your answers.

Who said Americans love marijuana? You would be taken more seriously if your question didn't have a glaring incorrect assumption in it.

Two reasons. Firstly, marijuana is illegal to use in the US. Secondly, hemp is inferior to numerous other products where fiber is required.
