what does one do if a child has reported to the authorities and it was just not even investigated and closed?

physical and mental abuse where reported to the child protection , police , plus a counseller. Not only was the file not investigated it was closed the paper work i recieved stated this . even though emotional abuse is traumatizing to a child it does not hold pressidence in the criminal code of canada . this was with the R.C.M.P i tried to go over there heads but i geuss the person who did this is allowed to keep doing it ..... my children needed counselling and to this day have never recieved help from our reinforcement of our police , child protection i guess there is no breaking the cycle the system allowed abuse to happen to me and even allowed the abuser to adopt now that is sick . please can anyone help me to help my children

Start legal action in civil court. However be sure you have all the facts possible.

Are you going after the person who is abusing your children? It could be that the person you are accusing is actually innocent.

Why was the case not investigated? If the police thought no crimes were being broken, then they had better make sure that the was the case. Either way, some investigation should have taken place.

Contact you representatives in Parliament. Get the laws changed so that other families are not victimized.
