I'm a football fanatic, and I love the AFL. I enjoy the fact that despite the differerences, at the core it is still american football.

Who says football always has to be played the same way? How boring! It's like saying all movies should be the same plot, or all books should be written the same way, etc. I got to wonder if the wives of those naysayers get bored with missionary every other Thursday, plus birthdays.

Among some of the things I like:
Accessibility: At the end of games, you can go down and talk to the players during autograph signings. Outside of games, the players are not spoiled punks. They're everyman folk.

Affordibility: I have season tickets in good seats. For the cost of my season tix over the last 3 seasons (Kats), I would could afford the PSL on a cheap seat for the NFL (Titans), and STILL have to buy the tickets!

Closeness: You gotta love a sport where they have to warn the front two rows to pay attention in case a player flies over the wall and on top of you, which happens quite often. I'm closer to the field than a front row ticket for any NFL game.

Nets and walls: A nice added wrinkle, forcing the ball to stay live much more often.

No punts: 4th down? Either go for first down, or go for the Field Goal.

Atmosphere: A lot less officious, and more laid back environment.

Passing over running: I've always enjoyed the passing game more, so little surprise I'd enjoy a game that's about 75% passing plays.

Anyhow, that's just some the reason I enjoy the AFL. Different but fun.

Love it and hate it. On TV, Arena Football sucks. It just isn't all that fun to watch. However, going to Arena games is an absolute riot. TV just doesn't do it justice.

Favorite current team: Grand Rapids Rampage, all time, the only true dynasty in Arena Football history, the Detroit Drive. Hard to argue when they went to the Arena Bowl every year they existed, (6) and won 4 of them. There has still never been an Arena WR as good as George LaFrance was.

edit: Did some more research...the Grand Rapids Rampage ARE the Detroit Drive, after owner Dan DeVos purchased the team from bankruptcy court...so, only have 1 fav team...with 5 Arena Bowl titles to its name.

I like arena football ~Go Preds!!
Being that I have been to arena football, college football(citrus bowl) , and NFL games, with arena football I find the atmosphere like that of a college game. I think the fans actually get into the game more and have a better time. It may be more of fast paced game but the tackles and such are just as good as in the NFL, in fact it is almost more challenging than the NFL. Your defense/offense almost needs to be twice as good as in the NFL since you are playing on 1/2 the field. I'd sure like to see how many of these NFL kickers could actually score a field goal through the uprights of arena football.

I love it. Its a good game and very exciting. I watch a lot of Arena football. I like it because I cant live without football and NFL is in the off season. My favorite team is the Columbus Destroyers but hopefully one day Pittsburgh will get their own team.

Great substitue for regular football. I support my local AF2 team the Rio Grande Dorados I have season tickets, I would like more people get into it cause all we have here is highschool football and would hate to see it go because of not enough interest. right now my team is ranked 4th out of 30 teams and hope they can win a championship.

I'd have to say I like it. Without the NFL, it certainly helps to feed my football addiction. I support Philadelphia, but I can't get used to them being called the "Soul", and never liked Bon Jovi. He's a New Jersey boy anyway - and a Giants fan.

Hate it. Not for the pure football fan at all. A cheap and non entertaining version of the NFL.

No disrespect to the athletes, but its pretty lame. I imagine if you went to a game it'd be cool, but on TV it just seems like ESPN had this brainstorming session:

"Hmm...What should we air?"
"People love football, how about we air more football?"
"Great Idea! But the College and NFL seasons are over."
"How about Arena League?"
"Brilliant! They'll eat it up!"

Its even worse than the XFL was. Its trying to make football more fast-paced and entertaining but it will never be as good as true football.
