There would be no wind, as wind causes waves (in part). So no wind, no air pressure or fronts, then there'd be no rain above most land because there'd be no system to push it along. Without rain, we'd all die.
And the moon causes the tides to rise & fall, so the rise & fall of tides causes coastal waves. Most waves across the sea are caused by wind and seiches.

The ocean doesn't make waves, the Moon does. If it stopped, we would be in big trouble. All kinds of weather related problems and such........

the moon is what makes the waves so as long as we have the moon shining to earth the waves will always move .

The MOON causes TIDES.
The WIND causes waves.
Tectonic shifts cause tsunami.
MY 8 year old knows this....and he can't type.
