I'm not sure which teenagers you're referring to, as N'sync and Backstreet Boys are so yesterday that those who WERE into them are probably not even teenagers now.
Generic answer for any boy bands:
1) Teenage girls like them coz teenage girls like most good looking boys (and let's face it, if you're not good looking, you won't be in a boy band)
2) Teenage guys secretly like them coz they want the same kind of adoration that teenage girls give them

N'sync and the Backstreet Boys was sooo elementary school. You know like before kids knew what the meaning of lame was...Cause i didn't know any better back then, i didn't have cable while i was a kid. I had dial up internet, so i didn't have any access to decent music for i didn't know what good music really sounded like..

Those boy bands don't even exist anymore. They were popular when I was in high school - that was ten years ago. I never liked them though. I always thought they were just, um, what's the word? Ah, yes. Gay.
