Babyboomers are the generation of people born from late 1960s to mid 1970s. Though primarily referring to US ppl, can be used to describe the world, though not as accurate. Occurred because immediately post WWII, soldiers were returning home in hordes and "got busy", leading to a sharp increase in births the following years post 1965. The influence of babyboomers has been staggering and led to a slighter Y2K baby boom when the original babyboomers procreated, creating another, but smaller, increase in births.
The impending crisis regarding babyboomers is that they are now approaching retirement and stand to gain ALOT of money in Social Security, money the government does not have.
