I agree with some of the others that if your parents claim you as a dependent on their taxes then your not your own household. But if your asking because of welfare's special minor or whatever they call it (I forget) I think it's if your under 21. When I was 20 and living at home with my parents I had to apply for Medi-Cal as a special minor (I think that's what they called it) because my mother wouldn't apply for me and my case changed at 21 to just regular Medi-Cal.

If they are supporting you financially, you still are living in their household and have to follow their rules. The only way you can get away from that is to get your own job and either live with them and pay rent or move out and get your own place.

Yes. Example:My sister lives w/ my mother and I, she has a 3yr old son. She works full-time. So when she filed her taxes, she was able to file as Head of Household because she provides support for her child, even though she lives with her mother, in her mothers house. Basically, regardless who you live with, if you have a child and provide support for him/her, you are the head of household for your child. Hope this helps!

Can your parents claim you as a dependant? If they can, then you are not considered your own household.

I think it depends on if your parents are still claiming you as a child on their taxes, if youre paying rent and providng for your own household.

i think...it really depends if your mom is still claiming you on her tax return.....so if so then no...because if she is that shows that you are here dependent even though you have a child...if she was not claiming you and doin your own tax returns then it is considered your household...even though you still live with your parents

i'm 24 and in my parents house. We have 1 and 1 on the way..
but dont think its bad..
my dad bought this house but doesnt live in it..its a 3 bedroom house and he chooses to live with his girlfriend, but he has a room to come home to if he wants..but i never see him. I think the moment you hit 18 your independant. doesnt matter who you live with.
