I'm more concerned about Mendez. Nonetheless, the final conversations between Peter and Nathan make me believe that Nathan thought he was sacrificing his life for the lives of many.
Even if Nathan was able to escape from Peter before the explosion, by coming into contact with him, Nathan could be killed the same way Ted's wife died. That's why I thought Claire should've just shot him.
However, I don't think that he will be dead. Didn't Mendez paint Nathan as president? I know that in the alternate reality of when Sylar kills Claire, Sylar ultimately kills Candice and takes Nathan's form to gain the presidency. But still, Mendez painted it so it must come true, right?
Wait, he also painted the destruction of New York City. And the drew the death of Ando.
This show is so confusing!

Okay, like 5 episodes ago, I was like if Peter is going to explode why doesn't he just fly up in to outerspace and do it. He could have gone alone. He had the ability. Nathan did not have to die. Heroes had a lot of little quirks like that, if you really thought about some stuff. And how many times did they just let Syler get away, like 4 or 5.

Think light.
You saw a big light but you don't know if it was heat or light.
Ted was capable of electromagnetic pulses as well. What if instead of blowing up Peter let out the energy in way that does not kill people. I am amazed people forgot that from one episode to the next. Peter was with Noah long enough to learn that. All that would happen then would be electicity in that area would be knocked out for a while.

I think Nathan really should be gone, otherwise there was no real sacrifice to save the city.
If he's gone, that eliminates the taint from the election results due to Linderman's interference, and Nathan's heroic action serves to inspire everyone, in the current day and future generations.

I hope not. He wasn't my favorite, but he was growing on me. And his attitudes were changing. Personally, I think that right before he exploded Peter decided to fly himself, that way Nathan could get away. We'll know for sure when the new season starts. I'll also be looking for any reliable spoilers.

It is a show that likes to follow the layout of comic books. In comic books, nobody ever stays dead.

No I don't think he is. I think he will come back. I have learned with that show that people who die always come back.
