The distance from Parry's corner to Egmore is exactly 6 kms by rail route (neither 3 km nor 8 kms.) From Parry's corner you have 5 minutes walk to Madras Beach station and from there you can get trains for Egmore. Frequently available, fast and cheap.
Other alternative you can go by bus it will talk time.
Warning - Never go by Autos They may even demand Rs. 200/= to 400/= They are CHEATS- Best of luck-

The distance is around 4-5kms. Take a suburban train and Egmore and get down at Beach Station (the last station). The train services are quite frequent and comfortable. Dont take an auto unless u are in a tearing hurry becoz they fleece a lot.

There is no suburban train between parrys to egmore.You have to take bus or Auto.Distance may be around 5 Kms.

You're right, it can be complicated. A standard full fare Open ticket sometimes allows "break of journey" en-route. This will let you get off at an intermediate station and then rejoin a later train. But this provision is not universal so check with the company before you try it. Most of the "savers" including the advance purchase savers will not allow break of journey. You may be allowed off at an intermediate station but they won't let you back on a later train. It gets even more complex with "super savers" (or whatever a particular train company calls their equivalent ticket). With these tickets if you get off the train before the destination shown on the ticket you will not be allowed off of the station. The barriers/ticket inspector will prevent you leaving. They can do this under railway bye-laws (terms and conditions of travel) so if you make a fuss they'll call the police. You will have to pay the FULL non-discounted fare between your origin and the place you got off the train. You do not get any credit or refund for the money paid for the super saver ticket. This could cost £hundreds more than the fare you paid in the first place.

Between Fort and Beach suburban stations 10-15 minutes by train or bus.

There are sub-urban Trains between Egmore and Chhennai Fort/ Beach (stns. within Parrys Area).

it is approx.4 kms between suburb train stations and 3 kms by road. The frequency of train is about 15 minutes and travelling time
15 minutes by train. By auto, you have to shell out around Rs.40/-

about 4 kms and yes you can get a suburban train uptill beach station and from there parrys is a short walk

if u want to go by train get tikct for beach station or fort, its nearest station for parrys tkt cost approx 6 rs.
u can go by bus also totally 5kms approx
r take auto they'll ask 30-40rs

It is about 4 to 5 km. You can have sub urban train and get down at Fort or Beach station. (depends upon the location).*
Also lot of buses plying, taking around 15 min.
