Yes, when you are talking to a woman and she is nodding and/or saying "Yes" It does not necessarily mean that she agrees with you, but that she understands what you are saying. On the other hand if you are talking to a man and he says "Yes" and/or nodding it means that he agrees with what you are saying. If he didn't he would interupt and argue his point.
I believe that this interaction can be explained in two ways. First is because of nature. Men are usually more agressive than women, and women are better listeners. This is just something that we are all born with, and some of it has to do with chemical balances within us, such as testosterone and estrogen.
Second, is because of environment and/or society. Men are told to be tough, and to do things like not to cry, or share their feelings and emotions. They also learn that when challenged they have to take up that challenge because if they don't they are seen as wimps. Women are taught that they can be emotional. Women cry all the time, and more power to them. Letting out your emotions like that relieves stress. They are also tought to be clean and to look good and to be proper and have manners. We learn at an early age that there are certain things that a guy has or can do that women cannot, and vice versa. A guy is not expected to cry when emotionally or phisically hurt, and a woman is not expected to lift anything "too heavy."

Yes, women are much more verbal than men. It starts at early childhood perhaps because Mothers spend more time talking to girls or just because that part of the brain developes faster in girls just like they reach puberty sooner than males. Males are more direct and learn more from hands on than or visual contacts than from verbal instruction. I believe it is inborn as i was a single woman that raised 2 boys to adult hood, and they are very much men, and not at all like girls and never were even during their childhood.

Women talk to entertain, and to bond.
