When I drive and I have been driving for a while my car just stops. The check engine soon light comes on and all the other lights that are on when you first go to start the engine...they all come on, but the car just stops. Then we turn it off, give it a minute and it drives again....for a while. What could be wrong.?

Could be a few things. but sounds like most likely an electrical problem, that power is intermittently cutting out from the engine, almost like if you battery completely failed for a second and then came back on.

Could be other issues too, like problems with the transmission (particularly if it is an automatic) or some type of internal issue with the engine.

My money is on an electrical issue.

It might mean you may need a new car. Check your milage. Some cars have a longer life than others. Before the car dies, I would have it checked. You wouldn't want to have to pay towing fees.

It could be your alternator. I had a similar problem with a Buick that I had and we had to replace the alternator and the starter cylanoid
