Nothing is ever late except projects. But go ahead and start playing and don't think for a second that it's too late.

Well, what do you mean by achieving success. I play in a league where people are 15-25 and its a friendly league. If youre talking about achieving success in those kinds of friendly leagues its never too late and you will enjoy it a lot.
If you are talking about profesionally... There are a lot of factors. Are you an athletic person? Are you in good physical shape? Are you willing to commit yourself fully to improve your footwork and cardio? 22 is kind of too late to start profesionally, unless you have some experience. Most soccer superstars start playing at a young age and they play while growing up. Its like when there on the field they dont think, the plays they make are from instinct, its a part of their nature; that comes with years of experience. if you want to catch up and be a professional its like trying to catch up 18 years of soccer.
as a soccer player, i know how hard it is to commit yourself to something. Taking a jog everyday to improve, pratising daily to become better. I hope you know what it takes. but remember this might sound corny but <>. you put your mind into it, you can achieve anything.

Not at all, 30 isn't too late to start playing either. Some teams are still in age group believe it or not. Last year I watched a soccer game for 50 and older. Not just that but at 22 your still young!! Good Luck and have fun!!!

You are not talking about playing professionally, right? If so that would almost be impossible, even if you had the time and funds needed to hire a trainer and coach, and then find a place to play such as a semi-pro league, it would take years of 100% commitment. You could hire a professional to evaluate your base talent. One thing is foot speed, for example being 1/2 second too slow in a 40 yard means the end of the line, even for a top prospect.
If you are talking about a local rec league, then no way, you can start playing.

It's not too late to start or to even become very good at it.
Most professional footballers have been playing since they were really young because a lot of the skills are best learned before you become an adult; that's how they become second nature to you, which is true with a lot of other things.
But don't let this discourage you, depending on your demeanor, fitness and perseverance, you can probably train to become a really good player and maybe even play on semi-professional teams.
Good luck.

Well most people who play soccer have been playing since they were 5, but that doesn't mean it's too late. Just don't think you will make a career out of it, no offense.

It is never too late to start doing a thing. Look at the West Ham United striker Teddy Sheringham. He is 42 years old and he still plays well.
Develop your sklills and stamina.

It's never too late to play sports for fun, exercise, and adventure...if you are trying out for a college team, just do it, its not like you are going to get any younger...I wouldn't wait for next year. The thing about sports when you are younger is that the adults, who strive so hard to make a living only care about money, they see the glory, in their name, and the dollars in their future, but don't know squat about the sport they are promoting. I suggest that you do whatever you feel you need to do. If you do that, especially at your age, you will not have any regrets.

its never too late to start!
however, it is too late for you to be able to make a career out of it...cause at this age, you should be a pro playing on an international team and a big fancy club.
but if you just want to have fun and get in better shape, go for it!
