I am moving to California. I have freshwater snails for pets & have read that some kinds are illegal to have there. Does anyone know which species are illegal to have if any? OR.......Is there a permit needed to keep them??? Thanks.

I checked the California State Government website, and from the info posted on the Fish and Game website, none of the aquatic snails seem to be prohibited. I'll post a link to the document, the info is on page 9, right side column: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/pdffiles/fg1518.pdf

You can contact their office for Special Permits and License Information (916) 928-5846 to make sure this info is current.
