Most likely yes, but u can't really generalize the term "guys". Every human being is unique, even his friends aren't much like him to be honest. Ask him what he'd like, and if he gives a hint or a sign that shows he's kinda lying, don't point it out, just do the opposite of what he says to make him happy. He'll notice it, but make sure he knows that you're not backing away.
