I used to think it was brilliant; now, I think it's merely very good. I've read it several times and thoroughly enjoyed it each and and every time.
I wouldn't say there is a huge twist necessarily--if you expect a twist, does it still count?
What I liked about Ender's Game was that, like most good books, you can take it at face value and enjoy it as an adventure story, or you can look deeper and take something else from it.
I remember reading this when it first came out and then being very pleasantly surprised to find that I liked the sequel every bit as much--maybe just a little more?--than the original. That said, Ender's Game is a complete story in and of itself and stands alone very well.
How fortunate you get to read this as part of a school assignment. Good luck and enjoy the book--but don't read it like an M. Night Shyamalan flick that you are trying to figure out. Just let Mr. Card take you on a wonderful journey without respect to what the destination is, and I think you'll enjoy it all the more.

It's a really good book, one of the best of science fiction. I kind of zoned out after the third book in the series, but the first one was so good I read it in one sitting.

I think it is an excellent book. One of the few sci-fi books I can actually stand to read. If you enjoy books about children growing up in a controlled environment, only thinking of ways to outsmart their controllers, it will be a great read for you.

You're VERY lucky! It's a book that I couldn't put down while I was in middle school, and it wasn't even assigned to me as an assignment. It's very engaging, and there's a huge twist at the end that I challenge you to predict while you're reading! I reread it again recently, as a college student, and it still enthralls me.

I remember reading it for fun and finding out later that kids read it in schools!
I actually really enjoyed it...I remember being quite surprised that there was a maori guy in it as a character (as I am a New Zealander this was really amazing!).

"Ender's Game" is good, but I was more impressed by "Ender's Shadow." However, you need to read them in order.

yes it is very good. I read it a couple times over the years as well as several from this author. Of course it helps if you like scifi to begin with.

It's an amazing book. You'll enjoy it if you like sci-fi stuff at all... or even if you're a fan of video games.
