I've noticed that there are a lot of small black dots spreading all over my fake plants in my aquarium. What could it be?

Could be snails or could be very dark green algae. If it's snails the first answer you got will handle the situation quite well. If it's algae you will need to keep the tank lights off more and do plenty of water changes.

I would suggest that you only run your tank light about 8-10 hours a day. As far as water changes, you should typically change 25% of the tank once a week and use a gravel siphon to clean the gravel as you remove this water. Those two things will keep the algae in check and also help you fish to stay healthy and happy.

Could be snails or algae... people here have given very good advice. Try to bring in a few of those janitor fish, sometimes those freaks help out when it comes to these spots appearing in our tanks. I would also advice you to clean your tank... remember, only take out maximum of 1/3 of the water at one time, more than that can be armageddon for your fish.

Sounds like algae. Don't worry if its green its good let it grow. Brown algae is bad, as well as red or purplish algae, scrape that off and change water. Green stuff is a sign the tank is well cycled and the water is right and healthy.

They could be baby snails. If you look closely, you might be able to see tiny shells. If you want to remove them, put a piece of lettuce on the bottom of your tank. They'll all gather on it and then you can toss the lettuce (snails on it) out.
