I don't know why people bother to post if they're not going to answer the question-its not like its not revelent!
Well..anyway people don't like generalizations....but I know if they're honest (meaning black people) they'll admit MOST black people think lighter skin people are MORE attractive.
Would so many black men be so into Halle Berry or Beyonce if they were 3 shades darker-hell no! (white men definitely not either). Name one darker complexion black women that gets the attention that Halle Berry has gotten--even from black men. Its cultural brain washing with a long history dating back centuries!!
Black women are a little better-maybe because dark skin is considered a masculant trait......but I have heard many black women say "I don't want to date a light skinned black man because I don't want anybody prettier than me". It doesn't sound as if they consider darker skin more attractive, only that they are too insecure to be with a lighter complexioned man.
Some things in SOME instances are GENERALLY true.
That's the real world, & it needs to be addressed, but I'm starting to see yahoo!answers isn't really a place for constructive thoughts-just a lot of denial & "Don't worry about it" posts.

The ones that are saying that dark skin girls are always ashy, have nappy hair, or whatever are insecure. Do they not know that they're talking about themselves? So f****** stupid! Anyway, It's not just darknskin men going after lighter skin women, lighter skin and white women like our men to, so it's like 50/50. But I do agree that it's more of a self hatred issue. I know PLENTY dark skin men that would pick the light skin over the dark and brown. Most of them are not that pretty anyway. Picking someone for their complexion is a big insecurity problem. I'm not dark nor light. I'm a brownish red, and I like my men DARK.

Well I'm a dark-skinned girl and i have no problem getting a dark ar light skinned brother. Plenty of white men try to holla as well.I prefer a dark skinned man myself though

I was wondering about that too lol. My brothers only look at light skinned black girls or spanish girls. And alot of black girls I know like darker skinned guys. I don't really care about skin tone though. I actually prefer Asian guys though lol.

well as a dark skin bruh, I can say I prefer dark skin ladies, but they are always chasing the light skinned dudes. And the light skinned girls are the ones that hold me down, so that is usually what i am with.

Meh, it is stereotypical. I've seen it around, but I've seen contrary couples. I've seen people say they'd prefer a dark man/light woman, but again I've seen others not care, and then again run into women who preferred light men and men moon over dark women.
In the end, it all depends.

Not just blacks.. Women tend to have lighter skin color because they need more vitamin D when pregnant, so lighter skin in women can be seen as more attractive because more feminine, and vice-versa.

I agree that is true. Which is very sad, I don't understand it either. I'm definitely not like that. I'll like a guy as dark as night or a light skinned guy. It doesn't really matter,
WHAT MATTERS IS THAT PERSONS PERSONALITY.

most black people that I know will go for either as long as the person is looking good, even if they say they have a preference
