From an unbiased opinion, he's not over rated. He doesn't get enough praise (I'm not saying he deserves it). Just because I agree that he's not over rated doesn't mean that I'm saying he's great or will be great. Actually, I thought he was a tiny bit better than average. Now that he's in the NFL, he's just mediocre! It's the National Football League... things could change for these rookies. Some pan out and some don't live up to the hype. Quinn had a good coach in Charlie Weiss and progressed alot. He should do the same in the NFL.

I have to agree with one of your answerers about him playing good against weaker teams, but playing poorly against elite teams during college. The NFL hasn't drafted anyone from notre dame that really stands out. They aren't the notre dame of old. Quite frankly, they aren't that good anymore. To top it off, they have a really good coach that has a couple of superbowl rings/coached Tom Brady, but I don't think he'll be able to change anything in a hurry. It's not the coach's fault that kids are choosing other colleges to play football. notre dame doesn't get the recruits like it has in the past. There's no reason to believe Brady is anything special coming out of notre dame. Only time will tell.

The idiot above me is just biased and got his feelings hurt from a comment on a 'not so great anymore' football program (notre dame), a mediocre QB in Brady Quinn and the fact that the irish got slammed when they faced good teams... especially in games that matter most (the bowl games).

The Independents are WEAK!

He may be overrated, but we'll have to wait and see how he progresses in the NFL. He played in a division with Army, Navy and Air Force. Those colleges don't produce great football players very often like most colleges. Notre Dame is the only school out of all of them to produce NFL talent as of late(enter the draft).
If Notre Dame played in a stronger conference/division in the last couple years they would have gotten crushed... hardly anyone would know who Brady Quinn was had that been the case.
The bottom line is Quinn played well against the cupcake schedule, but when he/Notre Dame faced the top tier teams in college they took a beating. There are quite a few rookies from ND that were drafted this year into the NFL... Quinn had some talent around him... it's just that ND hasn't produced top notch football players as of late and, that includes Brady.
I believe he's overrated. Many NFL scouts felt that way, too That's why he slid all the way down to the 20's in the draft. He could've slipped to the 2nd round if Romeo (who is good friends with ND coach-Charlie Weiss) didn't save him.
With all that being said, some guys do well in the next level and some do not, regardless of their college background... we'll just have to wait and see. Brady is a bright kid, he'll learn fast and play with a chip on his shoulder which should help him develop into a good QB. He has some upside and alot of potential! Not to mention, he'll play behind a solid O-line with good targets to throw to.

He is overrated.
I live in Cleveland, unfortunately, and I watched as they crowned Charlie Frye their savior two years ago, now they snub him for Quinn.

Quinn has a weak arm, bad accuracy and bad pocket presence.

The worse place for him to go was Cleveland because although they have improved their offensive line in the offseason, the only possession receiver the Browns have is Jurevicius and he gets double teamed because everyone knows he is the only one who catches the ball regularly.

Edwards and Winslow think they are stars before proving themselves.

The Browns also dont use Aaron Shea enough, the best Tight End on their team.

Brady Quinn is not overrated. In fact, he's very UNDER-rated because he didn't have a whole lot of talent around him at Notre Dame. He'll be in a similar situation in Cleveland, which doesn't have much talent and is heavy on idiots like Kellen "F'ing Soldier" Winslow Jr.

If anything, JaMarcus Russell is VERY overrated. The so-called experts based his draft value based solely on ONE GAME!!!!

One last thing to the moron who says that the Irish play in a weak conference - NOTRE DAME IS A FOOTBALL INDEPENDENT! True, they play the service academies (two of which - Army and Navy - are also independents; Air Force plays in the Mountain West with the likes of Utah) out of tradition, but they also play traditional powerhouses like USC, Michigan and Ohio State.

Contrast that with a "power" in one of the BCS conferences that perennially schedules Division I-AA teams in their non-conference play: Kansas State! Their schedule is much lamer than Notre Dame's - and I don't want to hear from you Big 12 apologists about how conference play is "tough"...

So before you go off and say that the Irish play a cupcake schedule, do your research!

He was over-analyzed more than any other QB, but he should be a solid QB in Cleveland with a lot more weapons on offense as well as a revamped O-Line Winslow, Edwards, and Jurevicius.

If he has a lead and things work right, he is a great qb However when he faces excellent skill positions takeing his options away, he struggles. If he doesn't have anyone weak to pick on(like the NFL) he cannot get going. He is a typical browns qb, that lose it when it comes down to the wire. He couldn't succeed with the offensive structure in NCAA, why would he succeed in the talent rich NFL?

Try under rated sure hes with the browns, but look what Carson Palmer did with the Bengals. People were talking about Vince Young an his throwing power an how he throws the ball and Matt Leinart was overall the better pick. If Brady starts for the Browns I'll say he does better then Jamarcus Russell!

He's over rated. If he works out he'll be an average QB at best. The Browns gave up way too much for him and Dallas will cash in. Looks like the next Hershall Walker trade for them.

I don't think he is over rated.....he just needs a little more control and experience.

He was 929 of 1602 pass attempts with 95 TDs and 39 Ints. His passing yards -11,762, his whole college career. His numbers are better than Troy Smiths (OSU fan here) so I can't say Quinn is over rated......

It pains me to say it, but I think Smith is the over rated player. Yep....that hurts, alot!
