Germany vs. Italia World Cup History

1962: 0-0 draw
1970: 4-3 Italia
1978: 0-0 draw
1982: 3-1 Italia
2006: 2-0 Italia

The Italians have never lost a World Cup game to the Germans. Having said that, anything is possible but the Italian side is still very strong on defence and midfield.

EDIT

"To Sicula: What tactics?? Defend untill the other team gives up, then cheat in a few goals"

Oh, I thought you wanted an honest answer... I didn't realise this was suppost to be a "Germany love-fest". Sorry.

By the way, the following is from the BBC (website in the source box), world headquarters of "hate the Italians" club. Doesn't really sound like "cheaters" won this game does it. Sounds to me like a thrilling down to the wire win. Whatever...

"An absorbing semi-final seemed set for penalties until Grosso curled man of the match Andrea Pirlo's pass past Jens Lehmann with just one minute left.

Del Piero then finished an Italy break with a delicate chip into the corner.

Germany's Lukas Podolski earlier sent a header wide and saw a shot saved, but the hosts' Cup dreams were shattered.

The Italians, famed for their defensive strength, adopted an increasingly attacking approach, aware of the Germans' brilliant record at penalty shoot-outs.

Substitute Alberto Gilardino's shot rebounded off the post and Gianluca Zambrotta's drive struck the bar.

But Podolski led the German attacking threat, missing the header from David Odonkor's cross and forcing a brilliant one-handed save from Gianluigi Buffon.

Del Piero then squandered a shooting chance from the edge of the box after great work from Vincenzo Iaquinta and Francesco Totti and Pirlo forced a diving save from Lehmann.

But Pirlo still had time to have his say as, with Italy pushing forward in numbers, he threaded the ball to Grosso whose first-time shot left Lehmann with no chance.

The goal was timed at 119 minutes and Germany, and their supporters who had crammed into Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park, were stunned."

Personally, I have no idea who'll win. This year everything has been so unpredictable like Portugal vs Germany, I didnt think Portugal could be knocked out so quickly. Better yet, Turkey vs. Croatia. I mean who knew Turkey would win? I have no idea who'll win the Turkey vs. Germany match but I think Turkey will win it 2-1 or 1-0 in overtime. If there are penalty shots, I can guareentee that Turkey will make at least 4/5 of them. They have some really good shooters. Germany is expected to win being a tournament team and all but I think they'll let go during the 1st half and try and comeback the 2nd half unsucessfully. Turkey will have a strong defense but a not-so-good-but-not-bad-either offense while Germany will have a strong offense and weak defense. Expect goals from Semih, Mehmet Topal, or Hamit Altintop. From Germany, I can only expect Ballack possibly. I say Turkey because they work better together and are about team spirit. I think this match is for their fans and with the Croatian match barely won, they'll learn from their mistakes. Germany is always in luck with the favoring referees and unfair calls. They aren't as spirited as the Turks and will definitely be more challenged by the Turks than they expect. Even with the yellowcards Turkey has recieved, you cant forget Mehmet Topal and Hamit Altintop. Especially Hamit Altintop who'll be playing his German teammates in the match. Also Mehmet Topal will lead a solid defense playing probably middle defense. Turkey doesnt need hot-shot known players to win a game. In conclusion, Turks want this win for the fans. Germans want this win for glory.

It would still be Italy... it took a while but their tactics worked perfectly. Germany had the edge playing in Germany, but the Italians worked it out and they'd do it again.

Cheat a few goals??? What game were you watching? Germany was at home and got beat by a superior team. Live with it.

Germany is a strong team, but unfortunately their lady luck usually goes somewhere every time they face Italy. It's proven by their record.

Italy's style perhaps is not very exciting, but they are great contenders, if not champions, for any opponents. Germany's textbook style may work when they face teams like England or Holland, who are offensive but at the careless at the backline. Germany can catch them in a nap with 'snipers' like Klose or Ballack. But Italy hardly leave any space for opponents, and you can't blame their style because it's most suitable style for them. They cannot play like Brazil.

Are Italy cheaters? Umm, I think some of their players sometimes do cheats, but which country in this world never do cheats and fouls? Even England, one of the most gentle team do cheat sometimes.

Yup yup yup! I say Germany. Not that Italy is not good, but the team has been having more downs than ups since the world cup ended. Germany does have a really young team, with the exception of several. Yeah, I would have to say Deutschland, not just for being my favorite but also cuz they've been progressing a lot.

.if we are talking about a german side that is depleted from a Bibilical battle againist Argentina;after which a key player like frings is suspended due to the Italian media sneaking some videos to FIFA

againist

an Italian side that cheated its way through minnows Australia, and coasted through debutants Ukraine

then i guess it will take another 118 minutes of struggle to beat the Germans.

Any other context would be an automatic German victory.
