Hotel rates are two or three times higher on Friday and Saturday. I am assuming the reasoning is the laws of supply and demand, but I am wondering if there is some other reason Vegas is more expensive on the weekend, such as better shows or more entertainment. In other words, if I go from say Sunday - Thursday, am I missing out on a good part of the Vegas experience, or is it the same everyday?

I visit Las Vegas almost every year during the summer. I love it there. Las Vegas is a 24/7 hot spot. It really doesn't matter whether you are visiting during the middle of the week or during the weekend. However, Most people tend to take long weekends to Las Vegas creating a higher demand for hotel rooms as well as tickets to attractions, shows and tours. This equates to much higher costs.

I advise visiting Las Vegas during the early to middle part of the week (avoiding holidays of course). The hotel room costs are much cheaper and the available seating for shows is much better.

If fighting crowds is a concern, the best months to visit Las Vegas are July and August. Despite the fact that the temperatures are much higher, the crowds and hotel room prices are the cheapest during these two months. Besides, everywhere you go has air conditioning and great swimming pools.

If you are looking for some really good deals on hotel rooms and shows, I have found Southwest Airlines Vacations http://www.southwestvacations.com/destinations/mainDest.asp?Dest=LAS to have some of the best/cheapest pricing throughout the year. They also appear to offer the most direct flights to Las Vegas.

I hope this helped! Enjoy your trip! :)

Nope, there is no difference in quality on the weekends. The reason everything is more expensive is the people from the surrounding areas trek to Vegas on the weekends. Everything is more crowded and costs more. Sunday through Thursday is the best time. Much less crowded.

Absolutely go Sunday through Thursday if you can. Everything is the same except the room rates.

The further you can plan in advance and the more flexible you can be the better deal you will be able to find.

Avoid special events, large conventions and weekends.

Book your room through the hotel, then keep checking all the way up until you leave for a better rate. It's okay to check rates through the travel sites, but book through the hotel. Many LV hotels will price match the best rate you can find online for their hotel.

This is a very nice site for LV info
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com "VEGAS INFO" >Hotels & Casinos >from there you can access every hotel/casino's web site in LV to check room rates and to sign up for e-mail updates(the hotel will send you promotions when they become available)
This site also uses "travelaxe" - Travelaxe will compare the rates from most of the major discout travel sites for you.

The best time of the year to go for low room rates is in December after the NFR up until just before New Years. This year that would be December 9th until the 28th.

The other "generally" best times to go are, from Memorial day up to Labor day, then again from November 1st until February 1st.

Depends on when you go. If you're going during the "high" or tourist season, it shouldn't matter.

I was there in early December 2006, and went to Tangerine - one of the hottest clubs where you can spot celebs - on a Tuesday night at 11:30 pm and it was CLOSED!! Pure and Tao were hopping for the most part. Some of the shows were "dark" or going "dark" soon. So, December got us bargain deals, but the nightlife wasn't the same everywhere.

Absolutely supply and demand and I beg to differ on the differences.

Everything is open on weekends. Conversly many shows are dark on Monday or Tuesday. Several clubs are not open on Monday and or Tuesdays.

It depends on what you consider "better" Absolutely there is more action on weekends.

Weekends: Shows are a little more expensive, table minimums are a little higher, clubs/bars are a little more crowded (more girls though), rooms are more expensive. Restaurants are more crowded. Strip Clubs are more packed (with patrons)

Definetly sun-thurs is a home run idea.

Weekedn is demand. If you want to vist from out of town come on the non weekend. Less traffic, less hassle. Lines not a long.

same thing everyday, weekends, holidays, tend to get expensive, especially on new years.
Summer and winter seasons are always busy also. Mostly on the weekends cheaper sun-thurs
