Eric, it's not only completely messed up, but it's happening alot more than anyone realizes. My husband's a marine and we have a long list of military friends with broken marriages and ones that are seriously struggling because someone turned to someone else on deployment. I can't understand the logic but the reasoning I get when I ask is along the lines that war is hell, I wouldn't understand, and nobody has any idea what it's like over there when you are all alone and terrified. Does it make sense? Nope. But I haven't walked in their shoes to judge, so I just leave it alone.

I'm sorry if it's happened to you. Just keep in mind that not everyone does that. Believe it or not, there are a few loyal souls in this world.

My am a military spouse going on 6 years. My husband has not been to Korea but has been deployed plenty of times. I'm sure you will hear stories of other places besides Korea. It is just part of military life. But not all husbands cheat. My husband has never cheated and I trust him 100%. You can't always believe the stories everybody tells you. They might be true for some men but not all. If you start thinking negative, it's going to only cause problems for you two. I would just let it go. Only you know your husband. Why do you think these military guys get such a bad wrap when they aren't all bad. And yes, my husband can go without sex. It does not bother him.

Many! Women get lonely and starved for attention. If they are moderately outgoing and left in an environment where it's easy to stray, they'll stray. Of course it's messed up. Men also cheat on deployment if they are so inclined and the opportunity presents itself. Men and women have all kinds of affairs. In the military, in my opinion, a lot of the affairs wives have are revenge affairs. But think about this scenario, I was stationed on Okinawa. There were about 5,000 Air Force personnel, 70% male; 30,000 Marines virtually all male; maybe 1000 Army personnel at least, mostly male; one Naval Station, and two or three ports with the occassional ship...There were a lot of swinging ***** on the island and for some wives, service women, and military affiliated female personnel there was temptation or the pick of the litter so to speak. You figure it out.

Earf!

Unfortunatly too many. My brother was a Marine he said that if you wanted to get laid on a Navy base just go to the clubs the night after a ship is deployed most of the wives are there trying to find a man to be with while their husbands are gone. When hewas deployed to Japan for 8 months he came home to his wife 5 months pregnant WTF. Also my husband knew a couple through an on-line game, he was in the Navy as soon as he shipped out shestarted calling him on the phone 4 and 5 times a day wanting to talk to him for hours, she kept trying to get him to go visit her and stay with her etc. My husband stopped talking to both of them. About a month and 1/2 ago all of asudden she started emailing him asking him to call or email her.....I checked her my space guess what 3 days before she started trying to get at my husband again he shipped out. I think that this is probably the worst type of infedelity. Not only are these men working to make a home for their wife and kids, they are also trying to protect our freedom. They are heros and they come home to no money and cheating wives. Nobody deserves that.

I would say that most of our military is young, so their wives would be young as well, and they (the wives) have no idea, what a sincere, loving marriage is. I personally, have a friend whose wife left him while he was in Iraq. My hubby and I felt really bad for him and didn't really know at the time what to say. But, he has since found a new lady who is very sweet and they are totally in love. So, what may seem like its the end of the world today, may be its just opening another door for tomorrow . If she is cheating on you while your are over there risking your life for her and every other American, I would say she is a selfish, self centered, irresponsible, immature woman...and I would be thanking my lucky stars that you found out sooner than later!

Hi Eric,

My son is in 101st airborne and will deploy later this year to Iraq for his 2nd tour.

Sorry Eric, it is messed up that wives (or husbands) cannot wait until their spouse returns--my son is having some troubles now wondering if his wife will be faithful. Imagine, you in the line of fire and in combat and you have to worry about your spouse not being faithful. Life is hard.

You have to put this in God's hands--you remain faithful and if they do not at home, well, you will find someone better down the road.

I knew a girl who's husband had did multiple tours and as soon as her husband would get back she would put her fling on the back burner and they as soon as he was deployed she would go back to him. It made me sick I couldn't understand why, if she was going to cheat why not just get a divorce and be single....Its sad but it happens too often, I'm not sure why they do it. I'm sure loneliness contributes but I think if there is real love involved in a relationship you don't cheat no matter what the situation...

Many. Just as many husbands do when they are on deployment.

Yes. It is messed up, but people get lonely and it happens.
