The US government vetoed the UN and illegally invaded Iraq a country that has never killed or thtreatened to kill an American civilian.
Effect:
distabilizing and margenalising the UN.
destabilised the Iraq ecconomy
killed 650 000 Iraqi civilians
created 2 million refugees who are now homeless
made a long term enemy out of Iraq
The US government lied to it's people and the world about the reason for going to war.
Effect:
destabilised relations
disinfrachised voters
internationally you are seen as a nation of bullies with little respect for other nations
the USA is now one of the most hated nations in the world
the USA by definition is the worlds largest terrorist state
The only people to gain a possitive from this war are those share holders of large American corporations like Haliburton etc etc the same companies that Bush and his criminal buddies are all major shareholders of.
I cant say the word America without feeling sick - I use to love your country.

Over 600,000 people dead (and counting).
Millions homeless.
Tens of thousands tortured and raped.
Infrastructure destroyed.
Country destabilized.
Its neighbors nervous about all the angry young men becoming terrorists by the dozens.
We've spent trillions of dollars (and counting). We're permanently in debt which our descendents will be paying off for generations.
We have no equipment here for dealing with natural disasters (such as Katrina, fires in California, tornadoes, or the next season of hurricanes) which leads to more American deaths, because the equipment is in Iraq.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans physically and psychologically damaged.
Everyone in the world hates us.

it's created a good recruitment tool for terrorists
it's cost around $500 billion so far
it's strengthened Iran via the Shiite majority
it's destabilized parts of the middle east
it's driven oil prices up
will probably also start problems with Turkey and the Kurds
it's killed a lot of u.s. servicemen
it's wearing out a lot of our military equipment
it's caused a civil war in iraq
it's ruined the reputation of the U.S. overseas
I could go on and on.

I would sincerely hope that one of the effects would be that the Islamic terrorists now realize that not every country will put up with their indiscriminate murder and terror without confronting them militarily. The have gotten away with their blood lust tactics with basically impunity for far too long.

some of the consequences...spending two billion a week on a quagmire, allowing al-qaeda to increase its operations five fold and increasing anti American terrorism with few allies.
