just not a sensible thing to do

i was a fan of mcgwire untill he wouldn't answer qustion's about his use of steroid's after that i completly lost intrest in him and beleave he shall never enter the hall of fame account of this

the only thing bond's brought to the game was shame not glory not enjoyment but complete shame

All steroids did for Bonds was help him hit the ball further. He is still an amazing hitter despite that, and he has probably the best eye at the plate of any hitter - ever. Maybe he wouldn't have as many home runs as he has now, but he'd still be a great hitter.

Though, don't get me wrong - I think the guy is ruining baseball.

Barry Bonds was never the greatest hitter ever. Only the most prolific left handed HR hitter in baseball. That's his only claim to fame so far. I'd think that Ted Williams would be the greatest hitter in baseball, ever.....

If there is an overwhelming majority of people that knew he took steroids, why is there no proof of a positive test result for that drug?

I say he is the best left handed HR hitter of all time, that's all. No proof needed because he already passed Babe Ruth. You don't have to be sensible to think that. What gives you the right to say people are not sensible just because the still support him.

He is not a bad person, is not self-centered, is genuine, friendly, kind and as normal as anyone can be. I've met him numerous times at work and at the ballpark, and you probably never had, so you don't know his real personna. Only what you are brainwashed to think by the media.

Also, prove to us how he disgraced baseball and how he brought shame to the sport. I'd love to see you try proving that, because you have no solid proof!

No one has yet explained how Bonds using steroids, or any Chemical X, has enabled him to take walks better than anyone in history, and certainly better than his many alleged steroid-bloated peers. Bonds owns a career OBP of .444, sixth best in history, and the career walks record by an ever-increasing mile.

Bonds has mastery of his own strike zone like almost no one else, ever, and shouting "steroids!!!" does nothing to explain that no matter how loud and fanatical the Bonds haters are.

Because he is. Plain and simple. Until you can prove that these wonderful substances make you a better "hitter" you can't argue that Bonds is not the best. McGwire and Bonds and Sosa were helped in the fact that HGH (or whatever you want to choose) allowed them to extend their careers. There always were and still are great hitters. They just have no morals when it comes to playing on a fair playing field with their peers.

he can only bring shame on the game if he actually tests positive, then we can talk all we want about how that impacts the image of the game...however, he hasn't tested positive, so there is always that reasonable doubt, although i personally believe he did take steroids...either way, he was still a tremendous hitter, with or without any help from any substances

YOU ARE ALL WRONG. the question said was he the best hitter. hes only a career .299 hitter. yeah thats good but compare it to babe ruth, ted williams, lou gerigh, etc and its no where near as good. if the question was "is barry bonds the greatest home run hitter?" then you all would be answering the right question. READ THE QUESTION RIGHT NEXT TIME. I figured this out and im 14 yrs old.

Greatest ever? No. I'd take Ruth, Hornsby, or Gwinn.

Pretty damn good? Yep.
