i know its stupid no one in my family eats watermelon but me go figure?

I am from the south, and I have NEVER heard of this sterotype. Never.
Growing up, me and my bros, sis's, would sit out on the porch, eat watermelon until our faces were red, and the rines covered the porch, then we would have seed spitting contests, then feed the rines of the watermelon to the horses or cows.....
I think maybe it is a southern not black thing.
I am white. I am not a racist.

It is just like many others a southern stereotype that ignorant whites put on a once weakned society. Other than feeding our ancestors pigs, they fed them watermelon as a "treat", to the good little slaves who did their massa well. Of course not every black person likes watermelon...or chicken....or banjos.

well, it's like the restrooms back in the day, you know, black only and white only. We got the watermelon, and they got the grapes. I guess some people feel it's ok to get stupid drunk. as long as the wine you drink is sinfully expensive. I personally feel no shame in my culture, it is what makes us unique. Every culture has something that sets them apart from the rest. It seems at times that it is only the black race that runs away from what makes us unique. Everything bad/wrong in this world isn't totally because of the black race. From what I've heard and read, white racist proclaim, that white people taught us everything we know. you know like, rape, murder, hate, lust, greed, disloyality, cast system based only on skin color, incest,lying, cheating, adultry, child molestating, cruelity, anger, etc, etc, ......

OK let's set the record straight right here! I am white, and I am NOT Racist! I love watermelon, chicken, collar greens and all the other foods that are supposedly "Soul Food". I do not associate these foods with color of skin, rather with a person who has a good sense of taste! I love everyone and believe that we are ALL of ONE RACE.....GOD'S HUMAN RACE!!!

I don't know why they say that. I don't eat or prepare fried chicken because it's unhealthy.
I don't eat watermelon because it always made me throw up and I hate throwing up.
I don't drink grape soda or kool aid because they are unhealthy drinks.
I eat organic, natural foods, drink tea, and I bake, broil, stir-fry, or grill all meats. I never deep fry.
I don't smoke, either. Not cigarettes. Not weed. Not crack.
But you can't tell them that. They are going to believe what they want. Stereotypes suck!
