I think so, how else can they think smoking dope all the time, being all grubby and unhygenic and naively thinking peace and love can turn the world around?

When I was 14, in (this was in the late 80's but they were 10-20 years older than me) I met "hippies" and they were soooo interesting. Potheads, yes. But they taught me about thinking "outside the box" and alternative life-styles I never considered. I really learned allot from them.
They were focused on natural freedom and never forced anyone to do anything that they didn't want to do. I also learned about music, food, alternative medicines, other cultures, yoga, different diets, tarot, breyers yeast on pop corn? (is that what it's called?) YUM! etc.
I was given no preaching or lectures.
If done right, this way of thinking is healthy.
But it can be easily abused to end up to what we all fear about it today- first example is with this question. If I were a teen today around "hippies" I would expect drugs, acid and Hendrix 24/7.
No culture, health, etc. Just waste-face time. Oh, and dreadlocks. If you pray to Jah (sp?) you might have reason to have dreds and know the rules. But if you got dreds to play around to smoke weed and pretend, GO TO JAMAICA! Learn something and grow.
Hippies used to have knowledge, cultural appreciation, earth and human wellness in mind. But things have changed.
I'd say it would be a rare and beautiful thing to see a teen within ten years of now that could be a true and respectable "hippie."
Now I have two teens and am a Republican/ Libertarian. WoW! What a leap! But, for the record, if my hippie friends were with me now, we'd have a lively, healthy discussion of our opinions, not an attack on each other.

There are only a few hippies left. Our metal disorder was the buses. Simple, all metal, no plastic, dependable, do anything with or in vehickle. A box in which to think outside of.

learn to spell. Maybe you should lay off the weed?
As for Hippies...do some research into it. You might find they were / are the ones who pushed technology forward starting in the 60's..thinking outside the box. Most of them started all the computer stuff of today making this possible

I am not a hippy, and I am not really friends with anyone who is; but to quote someone I admire, Without hippies, you wouldn't have a lot of the social and even political freedoms you have today. Girls would still be banned from wearing pants to school for one thing.
Think about it.

wow you definitely just asked a question on the Internet regarding a group of people that are with out a doubt some of the most informed politically so since this bothers you so much you put a judge mental question on the Internet meant to be humorous (you failed) and demean people more intelligent then your self based on a stereotype that has had little to no relevance since 1979

I do. So what's it to ya? Have not smoked any pot in many years. By the way, they now call us "Baby Boomers", and it probably ought to be - "The Over-the-Hill Gang", since we are getting a little long in the tooth.
