Why?
They are the enemies of civilization. If they had had their way, you would live in a ******* cave.
It's also insensitive to showcase them in popular culture. How would you feel about a "terrorists of the carribean" or a "terrorists of New York" in 200 years from now?
Unacceptable.

I think it's the idea that pirates are kinda sexy cause they just take what they want, have no strings attached and are very free spirits. Some girls like the thoughts of being at the mercy of a man (within reason of course) or at least thinking they are while they are really in love with this mysterious man at the same time. Pirates are the kind that while they would take you they would be great lovers and know how to get you to fall in love with them at the same time and want them desperately. They would be kinda rough but have you wanting them so badly that it would be wonderful. Overall it's a sexy thought.

It's just a good movie that downplays ACTUAL pirates. Who cares if the real pirates were bad and horrible people. It's the fact that we can immerse ourselves into something like this that makes it so fun. Like the ride on Disneyland, it shows them as bad people, but you also kind of look up to them I guess. It's just fun
